SCRIBE

Building Sovereign Generative AI for the French Industry
LightOn is proud to be a key partner in SCRIBE, a major national project developing high-performance generative AI models aligned with the business needs and cultural specificities of the French industry. SCRIBE brings together leading players in research, computing infrastructure, and AI to build sovereign foundation models and sector-specific AI solutions.

About SCRIBE

SCRIBE is a large-scale national initiative aimed at creating powerful generative AI that serves the French industry. The project addresses a critical need: developing sovereign AI models that are performant, secure, and tailored to the French business language and to the operational realities of key economic sectors such as finance, education, and digital trust.
‍
The project pursues three main objectives: developing sovereign foundation models, ensuring performance across economic, security, and evaluation dimensions, and building French sectoral communities around AI.

Project Overview

Duration
June 2024 – March 2027
Funding
Funded by Bpifrance
EU Funding
To industrialise sovereign generative Al tailored to French businesses and institutions.

‍
Sector-Specific Models and Agents: Creating specialised models and modular multi-agent systems aligned with industry needs.
‍
Security and Evaluation: Benchmarking model performance with French-language sectoral evaluations, red-teaming, and dedicated audit tools.
‍
Data and Commons: Building a sovereign library of sectoral data and open-source tools, made available on Hugging Face and GENCI infrastructure.
